This year’s church retreat at Cohutta Springs Camp over Labor Day weekend was full of fun memories. Sabrina Patton, head of family ministries, and her family crafted a schedule of fun group events, worship, and down time that provided bonding within church members. I was impressed by the amount of preparation that had gone into the planning.
Sabbath morning was check in and group worship/informal church. We played a fun Kahoot Bible quiz and enjoyed a worship message from Sabrina. The focus was on how we could improve relationships within the church. We enjoyed perfect fall weather, and the best part was that we were the only group there at the conference center. Meals were large and boasted a selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Our group could use the canoes whenever we wanted, and on Sabbath afternoon we also enjoyed a pontoon boat ride. Other activities over the weekend included a guided creek walk, panning for gold, swimming and other water activities.
As a group, I feel we drew closer to one another as we shared prayer requests at worship times and played games together in a conference room in the evenings. This was my first church retreat, but I am already making plans to attend next year.
